AP: Take-home tests and essays are becoming obsolete

Oct 8, 2025

“The cheating is off the charts. It’s the worst I’ve seen in my entire career,” says Casey Cuny, who has taught English for 23 years. Educators are no longer wondering if students will outsource schoolwork to AI chatbots. “Anything you send home, you have to assume is being AI’ed.”

While many educators are throwing their hands in the air in resignation to what seems inevitable, Human Creative is seeking a path forward to promote original writing, deep-thinking, original research, with our Certified Human ContentTM system. Rather than simply monitoring what AI is being used, our system actively prevents the use of generative-AI sources, live-audits pasted content and typed content for generative-AI, links your devices to prevent cheating through a separate device, and provides additional deterrents to ensure a user isn’t cheating.

For academic plans, administrators can be provided additional information, including the entire writing history, cursor information, typical vocabulary usage, and more. Other AI-content detection systems for academic settings provide only a way to cite generative-AI use, but we don’t have to throw the proverbial baby out with the bath-water.

We can carve a path forward for educators, students, and the next generation to learn the critical thinking and writing skills necessary for academic success.

AI Detectors are inconsistent and can be easily bypassed...I'm becoming more and more convinced that this will be one of the only ways to verify authentic student work.
